President's Message - March 23, 2010

I would like to start off by thanking the executive committee, all the volunteers, club members and the many businesses who supported our club throughout this very successful season. With this diversified group we saw many special, social and fundraising events. You all worked harmonically to provide this club with activities with great success with the whole family in mind...and I thank you all personally for an outstanding job.

I believe my commitment to the club to obtain the “best trails” this season was delivered...with the remarkable efforts of “The Groom Team” their communication in keeping us informed of trail conditions and areas of caution allowed us many safe and enjoyable kilometres of riding.... unfortunately Mother Nature was not a cooperative factor this year and worked against us with mild weather at the peak of our season and the arrival of spring much earlier than we wished.

Once again, unfortunately this season, we experienced fatalities in our snowmobiling community, locally and in other regions of Canada which reminds us of the inherit risk for the sport we love, so please let me remind everyone that “safety start with you”, keeping your equipment in top mechanical order and riding responsibly with respect for others will provide safe and enjoyable riding for all.

It has been a privilege to represent this club as President this season, without the support provided from you all, my job would have been impossible.

Sincerely,

George Darouze

President OCSTC

President's Message - December

Hello Members

I would like to start off by thanking Mother Nature for blasting us with snow today!

As usual, the Club entered a float in the Santa Claus Parade in Metcalfe today and what a day! The best day ever!

We had snow, we handed out candy canes and lots of volunteers helped out; and what a great set up organized by our Social Director Rick Grisel. We even had a banner in front of the prowler inviting everyone to purchase their permits…that got some adults along the route commenting and pointing at our sign.

Word is that kids absolutely loved our float.  They were thrilled to see Spider Man in the back of the prowler and, being pulled behind on a sled, were Batman and the Joker riding snowmobiles.  The crowd went wild all along the route. You could hear the kids wishing Merry Xmas to their favorite super hero. It was great!

Thank you to Rick and thank you to all the Volunteers.  Without you, the Club couldn’t participate in these types of events.

A special Thank You to the following for the help in making this a great float and a great day:

Rick Grisel - Great work organizing the parade!

Cliff and Michelle Gill - p.s. I am not impressed with the pictures in my camera lol

Nicole Saunders - thankfully an injury-free parade for her this year.. we had her walking instead of riding in the prowler lol

Ed and Jo Vanherpt and their son - thank you for the decorations and the valet parking

Derek Goldthorp – thanks for helping out and cleaning my sled!

Ivan Kessler – a.k.a., Spider man, you gave great photos… you were a hit amongst the kids!

Mickey Roy – our camera man and the ELF!

Tony Darouze, Andrew Henderson and the youngest Vanherpt – great job handing out the candy (with Ed also)… our little new generation of sleders!

Check out the Photos of today’s events. Thanks again to everyone; and to all Members, have a great Xmas.
