Traffic on the KOC

We need your help to reduce the noise on the KOC in residential areas. Overall the volume of traffic on the KOC has doubled, if not tripled since the KOC was put into service last year. The KOC is an important trail in our system. It has helped us bypass many trails that are difficult to maintain or were lost. The KOC is a multi-use trail in the winter, meaning walkers and skiers have as much right as snowmobilers to be on the trail. On the other hand, ATVs are not permitted on the trails.

Residents backing onto the trail have recently complained about the noise. When neighbours complain we run the risk of losing trials. Over the next couple of weeks the Osgoode Snowmobile Trail Club will be taking measures to attempt to reduce the noise. It all starts with altering behaviour and you can help.

Next time you are on the KOC think about how your speed is impacting our neighbours. With reduced speed comes less noise. Consider slowing down in the residential areas. Also think about your route when you are enjoying a late night run. Perhaps you can avoid the area or at least you can reduce your speed in residential areas.

When you see pedestrian traffic on the trail, slow down and offer a polite wave. You never know who is walking on the trail it could be one of our valued landowners.

Here are the signs that will be installed by the club.
